Prawn curry with cabbage.
Prawn can be added any type of vegetable curry to twist its original taste. Due to its great flavor it enriches the aroma of any vegetable curry by adding prawn. We can add prawn with raw banana curry, papaya curry, jackfruit curry, pointed gourd curry and many more. Today I am preparing chingri diye badhacopi. Ingredients:
Badhacopi/cabbage – 1(shredded)
Potatoes-2 medium
Prawns (medium) – 10-12 (washed and peeled the scale)
Mustard oil-3 tsp
Onions – 1 large (cut into slices)
Garlic ginger paste – 1 tsp
Green chilies – 3
Cumin seeds-1/2 tsp (for tempering)
cumin powder-1/2 tsp
Turmeric powder – 1/2 tbsp
Dry mango powder-1/2 tsp( you can add tomato instead of mango powder)
Red chilli powder – 1/2 tbsp
Roasted cumin powder – 1 tbsp
Salt to taste
Pinch of sugar and garam masala
How to make tempting chingri diye badhakopi
Clean and wash the prawns, rub with turmeric powder and salt and keep it for 10-15 minutes.
In the meantime prepare the cabbage (shredded), onion (slice) and potatoes (two halves).
Take a wok, heat mustard oil and fry the prawns and keep aside. It takes 5 minutes to fry all the prawns.
In the same oil put cumin seeds for tempering.
As they splutter and sizzle add onion and sauté for 2 minutes.
Add potatoes and fry with onion for 2-3 minutes then add ginger-garlic paste and cook for another 2-3 minutes.
Now add the shredded cabbage and mix well then add the spices, turmeric, red chili,cumin powder roasted cumin and dry mango powder; keep stirring, add sugar and salt.
Now cover the lid for 5 minutes to boil the cabbage by releasing the water from it (cabbage).
Now open the cover and check the consistency and taste.
If everything is ok then add the fried prawns, mix well and cook for another 2-4 minutes in medium flame.
Take it out from the oven.
Garnish and serve with steam rice and dal.
