I will share today, step by step How to Make Afghani Chicken recipe, which is really a very delicious recipe. This is the chicken recipe I most like because its gravy is mostly creamy, made with yogurt and cream with other spices and nuts. It goes well with paratha or roti.

Ingredients required for Afghani Chicken
1st marination
- Chicken medium pieces from leg-600 gm
- Lemon-1
- Ginger garlic paste-1 tsp
- Peppercorn powder-1/4 tbsp
2nd marination
- Curd-250 gm
- Cream-2 tbsp
- Soaked almond-10
- Onion -1
- Mint and coriander leaves
- Green chili-1
- Ginger garlic paste-1 tbsp
- Whole spices (whole spices(green cardamom-2, cloves-5, cinnamon stick-1 inch, bay leaves-2, and peppercorns-10)
- Kasuri methi-1 tbsp
- Garam masala-1/4 tbsp
- Chat masala-1/2 tbsp
- Cumin powder-1/2 tbsp
- Peppercorn powder-1/2 tbsp
- Butter-1 tbsp
- Oil-2 tbsp
- Salt to taste
How to Make Afghani Chicken step by step
In a mixing bowl keep cleaned and washed chicken
Add lemon juice, salt, ginger-garlic paste, and peppercorn powder; mix it well and keep it for 10 minutes to first marinate.
Now in a blender jar, add mint and coriander leaves, soaked almond, onion, green chili, and ginger garlic paste.
Make a smooth paste
Take a large bowl, and add 250 gm curd
Add 2 tbsp cream
Then pour the paste from the blender jar
Add Kasuri methi, chat masala, cumin powder, peppercorn powder salt, and garam masala
Mix well and add the chicken chunks and keep it for 1 hour to 2nd marinate.
After 1 hour, heat 1.5 tbsp oil in a griddle
Add the chicken chunks, and fry them well
After frying one side turn them over to the other side and fry till the color changes to light brown, and keep them aside.
Now heat 1 tbsp butter and ½ tbsp oil
Add all the whole spices
Now add chopped ginger and slit green chili, sauté them
Add the marination and stir them for 2 minutes
Add the fried chicken chunks and mix them well with the gravy
Now cover the lid and allow them to cook for 8-10 minutes on low-medium flame.
Open the cover and mix them and turn off the heat
Transfer them to a serving plate and serve hot.
