Ingredients

Banana stem-1 (1 feet size)

Bengal gram-1/2 cup

Peanuts-1/2 cup

Bori (sun-dried lentil fritters)-1/2 cup

Coriander seeds-1 tbsp

Cumin seeds-1 tbsp

Ginger-1/2 inch

Cinnamon stick-1/2 inch

Cardamom-1

Cloves-3

Mustard oil-3 tbsp (including frying nuts, Bengal gram, and bori)

Bay leaf-1

Green chili-2

Ghee-1 tbsp

Sugar-1/2 tbsp

Chopped coriander leaves

Salt to taste

How to make Bengali Thor Ghonto / Bengali Banana Stem Curry In Traditional Style

First, remove the outer section of the banana stem

Then cut it into two parts

Now with the help of a bonti cut it into small pieces If you don’t have a bonti then use a knife)

Add water to it

Now put the banana stem in a pressure cooker along with soaked Bengal gram and go for 2 whistles on high flame

Heat oil in a kadai and fry the peanuts

After frying the peanuts, fry the bori (sun-dried lentil fritters) in same oil

With the help of sil batta, smoothly crush ginger, cumin, and coriander seeds

Now open the cooker after releasing the pressure, and check the stem

In the same oil Add the whole spices with bay leaf

Sauté them for a minute

Add the paste of ginger, cumin, and coriander and stir them till the raw smell goes off

Add green chili, turmeric powder, sugar, and salt and mix them well

  • Transfer them to a serving plate and serve hot with rice and dal
